In 2009, APPLAUSE will be adopting the Special Olympics as lead Charity, with 50% of the net proceeds donated to it. The remaining 50% will be split equally between the mayoral charities of Loughborough, Hinckley & Melton Mowbray. These charities respectively being Age Concern Leicestershire, Rutland Charnwood Ambulance Appeal, The Matthew Fulham Foundation & Trumpton - the Melton Mowbray Fire service appeal to raise money for local charities.

The Special Olympics of 2009 will be held in Leicester. The Special Olympics helps to raise awareness of the capabilities of people with learning disabilities & help those competing achieve many different things.

Age Concern Leicester Shire & Rutland - Charnwood Ambulance Appeal
The Charnwood Ambulance appeal sets out to raise funds for a specially adapted minibus to transport elderly residents, many of whom have health problems or disabilities, around the borough, on day trips & to day centres. The current vehicle is over 10 years old & in need of replacement.

The Matthew Fulham Foundation
The Matthew Fulham Foundation was set up in memory of Matthew Fulham, a teenager who lost his life in the terrorist attacks on Sharm el Sheikh, a day before his eighteenth birthday in July 2005. The foundation offers a music bursary for talented youth wishing to further their expertise in their chosen field of music.
